Like CPR, everyone can learn what to do to save a life from suicide. Know the warning signs, find the words and most importantly reach out. September 10th begins World Suicide Prevention week. Suicide is a critical issue in all communities and it does not discriminate. You do not need to be a medical professional to talk with friends and loved ones about mental health. The key factor is to not be ashamed of your feelings or thoughts and ask someone if you need help and inturn ask someone how they are doing if you see a change in their behavior, offering a listening ear may seem small but it is comforting to the person needing to talk. Let them know that there is help out there, it is so critical and meaningful to make a connection. You never know what is hiding behind a smile. Thank you- Brendan’s Smile Foundation
